More Examples Using MAJA
(MAJA Entry Point: CB and SB)

The other examples (Examples #1, #2, and #3) each involve using MAJA to recast the chords to Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix in three different musical genres (Rock, Jazz/Blues, and New Age). However, all three examples use the same MAJA entry point - namely, Progression Builder. The purpose of these additional examples (Examples #4 and #5) are to demonstrate that you do not have to begin every MAJA session in Progression Builder. In fact, you can begin a new MAJA session in ANY of the three modules. Indeed, MAJA's multi-module architecture is one of the key reasons why it can be so flexible and powerful - enhancing musical creativity instead of hindering it.

Example #4 starts in Chord and Arpeggio Builder (CB). For simplicity, it is assumed in this example that the MAJA user is a novice guitar player (using a 6-string guitar, conventional tuning). The steps of the example in high-level overview are:

  • Launch CB and create a chord. Use CB to learn how to play the chord and learn which scales are compatible with the chord. From the extensive list of choices, select one or more scales.
  • Launch the Scale Builder (SB) module and import the scale(s). Use SB to learn how to play the scale(s) and learn which other chords are compatible with the scale(s). From the extensive list of choices, select one or more chords.
  • Launch the Progression Builder (PB) module and import the chord(s). Build a composition using the chord(s) and scale(s).
