Example #2, Jazz/Blues Genre The basic idea of this example is to capture the original theme (IIm - IV - V) in the Jazz/Blues genre, using the same functional musical structure, but with substitute chords (suggested by MAJA). In this example, instead of Em11 - G - A, the functionally equivalent (but Jazzier) chords are used: E7#9 - Gmaj6 - A13/A7#9/A7b5. The basic tonality is still in E Blues/D major, but there is a considerable amount of 'swing' that imparts the bluesy/jazzy mood.
